I’m writing only a quick about page because, well, I’m terrible at making up my content pages. I did think that someone who comes by here may want to know a little about me and then I could update later, if I remember to.

I’m a much better blogger than writer, clearly.

Anyway. I’m married to Joshua, a brilliant man with a hilarious sense of humor and wicked cooking skills. We have two beautiful and very sweet kids, Noah and Olivia. Both of them were born on January 12th, in 2008 and 2012, respectively. Noah drives me crazy but he’s the sunshine in my life. He’s sarcastic, funny and very imaginative. Olivia is my colorful, joyful rainbow. She smiles at everything and goes to sleep on her own (like just now) which is pretty much the jackpot for a second child, really. I look forward to seeing her personality develop as she ages.

We babywear, though we do own a stroller. I breastfeed, exclusively, and believe that nursing beyond a year is not “extended breastfeeding”. We try to minimize our footprint on the earth along with being frugal, so it’s only natural that we cloth diaper. We do try to parent somewhat naturally minded but we’re not going to dwell if it just doesn’t work out that way.

How am I geeky? Well, I’m not really sure. I have a love affair with Linux, adore Doctor Who and comic books, and read as much as I possibly can. Or maybe I’m just a nerd, but that’s semantics. ;)

Hey, I used to be Artificial on [redacted] forever ago. Your husband and I would talk when you were still pregnant with Noah. I just wanted to say that your way of parenting really made a huge impression on me! If it weren’t for you I wouldn’t have cared to research, I wouldn’t have tried to breastfeed, babywear or have a natural birth. Sad to say, but you really were the first I had ever heard of! I was only 17 at the time though, so it makes sense. Thank you for that! I have two kids, Oliver and Farah. They were born in 2010 and 2012. I breastfed/feed, cloth diaper and had my daughter in a birth pool. All because you showed me something different!

  It is so nice to hear that we made a positive impression on you and that natural parenting has worked out for your family. I wish I had given birth in a birth pool, but healthy kids, right? Thank you so much for saying something. Your comment put a huge smile on my face.

    Oliver is 27 months old and Farah is 4 months old.
    
    For insurance reasons we just had to wing it and give birth at home without any medical help. My son’s hospital birth was a nightmare with one intervention after another so I really didn’t want to go through that again. The whole thing ended up with me having to pump instead of breastfeed because they were so insistent on giving him formula. Having healthy kids is all that matters though, for sure!
    
    Thank you again. :D You really did open my eyes to something that just made sense. Gotta say, I LOVE Flip covers. We just trifold a prefold and put it on Oliver, works great.

      Farah and Olivia are very close in age! Olivia is 4 1/2 months old and growing so fast. :(
      
      I ended up with two inductions…but both were vaginal deliveries with healthy babies so I’ll accept it. That’s crazy about the insurance issues but I completely get it. Insurance is such a pain in the butt.
